Building Partnerships to Accelerate Alzheimer’s Research
The National Alzheimer’s Coordinating Center (NACC) is the centralized data repository and collaboration hub for the National Institute on Aging’s (NIA) Alzheimer’s Disease Research Centers (ADRC) Program. For over 25 years, NACC has advanced the field by supporting researchers with rich longitudinal datasets, innovative informatics tools, and a nationwide network of investigators.
NACC curates one of the largest and most comprehensive AD/ADRD datasets in the world. Our modern Data Platform integrates clinical, neuroimaging, genetic, biomarker, and real-world health data, providing a foundation for high-impact scientific discovery. With more than 1,450 publications supported and over 54,000 participants represented, NACC data have powered advances in early detection, disease understanding, and therapeutic development.
We are seeking new partners from foundations, philanthropic organizations, and industry to join us in accelerating progress toward effective prevention, earlier detection, and improved treatments for Alzheimer’s disease.
Why Partner with NACC
National Leadership and Proven Impact
- NACC coordinates data from 36 ADRCs across 25 states, creating a unified infrastructure for AD/ADRD research.
- Data curated by NACC have supported landmark breakthroughs, including validation of the first disease-modifying therapies and development of biomarkers for early detection.
Innovative Infrastructure
- The NACC Data Front Door and LINKAGE Enclave provide secure, cloud-based tools for accessing and analyzing multimodal datasets.
- Our platform enables seamless integration of data streams from national initiatives such as SCAN, CLARiTI, NCRAD, and NIAGADS.
A Record of Successful Partnerships
NACC collaborates with a wide range of partners to amplify impact:
- Alzheimer’s Association: Co-funding the New Investigator Awards to support early-career scientists driving innovative AD/ADRD research.
- SCAN (Standardized Centralized AD/ADRD Neuroimaging): Partnering with LONI and ADRCs to standardize and share thousands of MRI and PET scans, supporting global research on brain imaging biomarkers.
- CLARiTI (Consortium for Clarity in AD/ADRD Research Through Imaging): Expanding national infrastructure for advanced neuroimaging and plasma biomarker integration.
- NCRAD and NIAGADS: Collaborating to integrate fluid biomarker and genomic data, enhancing opportunities for multi-omic analyses and precision medicine.
Opportunities for Partnership
By supporting NACC, partners can help:
- Empower Early-Career Researchers: Expand the reach of the New Investigator Awards program and nurture the next generation of AD/ADRD scientists.
- Advance Data Integration: Develop pipelines for real-world data, digital biomarkers, genetic data, and advanced imaging to accelerate discovery.
- Invest in Technology Modernization: Strengthen cloud-based infrastructure and analytical tools for global scientific collaboration.
- Enhance Public-Facing Resources: Improve access to ADRC participant data through intuitive platforms and dashboards for researchers worldwide.
Partnerships may include co-funding of strategic initiatives, support for pilot studies and supplements, or investment in transformative infrastructure projects.
Partner Spotlights
Through a strategic collaboration, the Alzheimer’s Association and NACC have expanded the New Investigator Awards, increasing the number of awards and doubling their size. This partnership has enabled dozens of early-career scientists to launch high-impact projects and build the foundation for independent research careers in AD/ADRD.
NACC’s partnership with SCAN has led to the creation of standardized neuroimaging datasets now available to researchers worldwide. These efforts support a growing number of studies exploring biomarkers and disease mechanisms.
As a key partner in CLARiTI, NACC is advancing national infrastructure for integrating plasma biomarker and imaging data to address critical gaps in detecting mixed pathologies and disease heterogeneity.
